Sunday, January 18th, following the services at Mt. Calvary in Diamond Bar, California, where I am completing my interim ministry, I received a phone call from Trinity Lutheran Church in Gadsden, Alabama, informing me of their decision to call me as there new pastor.
It is with great delight in the Lord and gratitude for his guidance and direction that I have accepted His call through the good people at Trinity. Nelda and I will be moving from our home of the last 22 years in Anaheim at the end of February to become permanent residents of the great state of Alabama and servants of the congregation in Gadsden. We thank Jesus for leading us into this new adventure and our many friends for their prayers and support.

National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2004
Comparing this year's declarattion with Ronald Reagan's in 1988 I am disappointed in President Bush's release. The following email was sent this morning:
Dear Mr. President,
Thank you for your declaration proclaming tomorrow as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I am also grateful for your part in securing legal preventions for Partial-Birth Abortion in our nation. However, I am disappointed in your declaration's statement for not having addressed the greater atrocity of abortion causing the deaths of over 44 million unborn children over the last 31 years.
Ronald Reagan's 1988 declaration, by contrast, gave a far stronger position against this threat to our nation, a threat greater than that of terrorism because it threatens not only vastly greater numbers but our integrity as a nation deserving of God's blessing. And though largely ineffective except for the ban of 2003, Reagan's absolute unwavering resolve is the only kind of hope that might one day turn the tide. I sincerely hope that political considerations have not resulted in the rather weak statement put out by your office.
As a Lutheran pastor I will be preaching on the pro-life issue tomorrow and urging my congregation to keep pushing for the "protections of the innocents" and the "personhood of the unborn" as did Reagan throughout his administration. I urge you to take the same stand for the sake of our country, which we both love, but also for the greater reason we share as Christians responsible for bearing the light of Christ in an otherwise dark and dangerous world. God has enabled you and empowered you to be the president of the greatest nation the world has ever known. I support you as an enthusiastic citizen and ideological soulmate, but I encourage you to remain strong and unflinching in the face of our greatest moral dilemma.
